My old router finally gave up after a storm last week
We had a big thunderstorm roll through Tuesday night and next morning my WiFi was completely dead. I figured the power surge got to my old Netgear that I've had since 2019. I spent an hour resetting it and unplugging everything but it just wouldn't power back on. Ended up driving to Best Buy and grabbing a new one with better security features like automatic firmware updates. Has anyone else had a router die out of nowhere like that?

Yo that sucks, the surge probably fried the power supply for sure.

Yeah happened to my buddy last month with a lightning strike nearby. His PC just made a pop sound and never turned back on. The PSU definitely took the hit but it also fried his motherboard and GPU too. If you're lucky it only gets the power supply and nothing else.
