Learned a wild phishing trick from a receptionist in Omaha
I was waiting to sign some paperwork at a dental office last Tuesday, and the receptionist mentioned how she nearly got tricked by a fake email from "the boss." It looked totally legit with the right logo and signature, but the ask was for gift cards. She said IT had to run a whole training after three other offices in their network fell for it. Has anyone else seen these CEO impersonation scams getting more convincing?

Hate seeing good people get taken advantage of like that.

and honestly the worst part is that they're getting SO good at this. like i saw one of those deepfake scam calls where the guy sounded exactly like his boss, even had that little laugh he does when he's annoyed. my buddy's grandpa almost fell for one that used AI to mimic his dead grandson's voice from old voicemails. it's messed up because these scammers are basically weaponizing nostalgia and trust against people who don't know any better. feels like every time we figure out one scam they just level up like a video game boss or something.

My cousin's law firm in Des Moines lost $4,000 to one of those last month. It's scary how real they look now.
