Found out most 'secure' public WiFi actually logs everything you do for a week
I was setting up a VPN at a coffee shop last Tuesday and got curious about their network. So I asked the barista how long they keep logs. She said 7 days minimum. I found out later that many places sell that data to advertisers. It's not just the coffee shop either. Hotels, airports, and libraries all do it. Read a report from a security firm in Austin that tested 50 public networks and 42 kept logs. Has anyone else checked their local spots or am I overthinking this?

What is it with companies tracking everything we do these days? It's like everywhere you go someone is writing down your business, even at the library.

Yeah it's wild how every app and store and website is basically building a file on you now.

Read somewhere that some stores use your phone's WiFi signals to track how long you stand in front of certain products. Creepy stuff, feels like you can't even browse in peace anymore.
