Threw $40 down the drain on a prompt generator course
Signed up for this 'ultimate prompt library' on sale last week, thought I was being clever for creative writing ideas. All 200 prompts were just generic stuff like 'write about a door' with zero depth or structure. Has anyone actually found a paid prompt resource that delivers real value?

Ditched one of those courses too after the first week, it was basically just 'write a story about a red balloon' repeated ten different ways lol. I found the best stuff just comes from talking to other writers in forums or discord servers where people share their actual struggles and wins. @michael_bennett11 is spot on, free lists are usually just as good since paid ones bank on the same generic ideas without helping you understand why a prompt works. Honestly, I got more value from a random blog post about using tarot cards for story inspiration than any fancy paid resource, and that was totally free. If you really want to up your game, try taking a character you already love and running them through a free random plot generator just to shake up your thinking.
