The $35 writing prompt book that changed my approach

I spent $35 on a used book of writing prompts last month, thinking it would give me fresh ideas for my forum posts. Instead, it taught me that the best prompts come from real life, not gimmicky scenarios. Has anyone else found a resource that actually improved their writing, or was it a waste like mine?

Oh man, I totally get what you mean. I once grabbed a pricey "30 days to better writing" course and it was basically just common sense tips I could've googled for free. What actually helped me was starting a private journal where I wrote down one weird or annoying thing I saw or overheard each day. Those little real life moments ended up becoming way better prompts than anything I bought. It's like you said, real life wins every time.
