That $50 "pro" writing prompt book was just motivational fluff inside
I grabbed this 500 page book off Amazon promising 10,000 unique prompts for fantasy writers, but every section just recycled the same basic ideas like 'write about a lost kingdom' with a new coat of paint. After flipping through 200 pages I realized I got scammed out of real money for stuff I could find for free on Reddit in ten minutes. Has anyone else wasted cash on a writing tool that sounded amazing but delivered nothing useful?

Finding a solid free prompt list on Pinterest saved me way more cash than any of those books. Honestly, sorting through community threads for the good stuff works better than most paid resources I've tried.

Finding a few solid creators who actually share their whole prompt chains makes a huge difference too... I bookmark their profiles so I can check back for updates instead of starting from scratch each time. The trick is sorting by newest first in the search results, that way you skip the outdated stuff that doesn't work as well anymore. Once you figure out which keywords to search for it's like a whole new world opens up.

Oh man, Pinterest is my secret weapon too (though my boards are a chaotic mess of half-organized ideas). The real gold is definitely in those random forum threads where someone drops a killer prompt with no fanfare. Saving cash and getting better results feels like winning the internet lottery.
