That $30 writing prompt deck from Etsy was just recycled Pinterest quotes

I bought this fancy wooden box of 'creative prompts' from a shop in Portland last spring. Open it up and every single card is something like 'Write about a door that leads nowhere' or 'A stranger gives you a key.' Looked up the first ten online and found them verbatim on a Pinterest board from 2017. Waste of money and shipping. Has anyone found a prompt source that actually feels fresh?

Yeah honestly I used to defend those wooden prompt boxes but this changed my mind.

That Portland store probably paid an influencer $500 to slap those prompts on wood.

Hate to jump in but I actually know the guy who runs that shop... talked to him at a craft fair last summer. He does all the designs himself on an old laser engraver he got off Craigslist for like $200. So it's not some big influencer thing, he's just a dude who likes typography and lives in his mom's basement. The prompts are actually his own writing too, he showed me his notebook full of them. I'm not saying they're great prompts but it's way more DIY than people think. Still don't love the wooden prompt box trend though honestly.
