Shoutout to the lost art of family landline calls for writing inspiration
I was just thinking about how our family phone calls used to be these big, scheduled events on the landline. Everyone would gather around, and you could hear the whole house in the background. Now it's quick texts or video chats that feel more rushed. I miss the chaos of those old calls, the way my grandpa would tell the same joke every time. It makes me want to write a story about a character who finds an old answering machine tape. Those tiny moments of family noise are pure gold for writing prompts. They show how we've shifted but still try to connect.

That family noise was often just distracting background chaos.

Wait, you had to deal with that all the time?

Been there, it can really get under your skin after a while. A good pair of noise-cancelling headphones saved my sanity when I needed to focus. Sometimes putting on a white noise track through them can block out that specific chatter. Have you tried setting up a specific quiet time with your housemates, or is that not an option for you?
