Saw a man in a blue coat reading a book in the rain at the bus stop on 5th Street
He was sitting there for at least 20 minutes, not moving, just reading while the rain got his coat all wet. It made me think about what kind of story could make someone forget about the weather like that. What's a good writing prompt you'd use to explain a character who does something like that?

Love that spy novel idea, totally tracks.

What's a book that good, huh? In my experience, it's probably a spy novel where the guy just found out his own brother is the double agent. Or maybe he's just trying to look deep and failed to notice the weather, which is something I would totally do. A solid prompt could be that the book itself is a message, and getting it wet reveals the real text.

Oh man, that "getting it wet" thing... I'm pretty sure that's lemon juice, not water. You write with lemon juice and it dries clear, then heat reveals it. Water would just ruin the paper... smudge the ink. Still a cool spy trick though. Makes me want to dig out my old decoder ring.
