Prompt generators vs random word lists, the list won after 40 prompts

I spent a week using a popular prompt generator site for my short stories and everything came out samey, then I tried pulling 3 random nouns from a dictionary for each piece and the weird combos actually sparked better plots. Anyone else ditch the generators for something dumber and get better results?
