People keep writing prompts that are actually just full plots and it kills the whole point
I've been in three different writing groups online and the same thing happens every single time. Someone posts a prompt like "a baker in Portland finds out her dead sister left a sourdough starter that predicts deaths" and calls it a prompt, but that's a finished story idea with no room left for me. A real prompt should be one or two lines that spark something weird, like "write about a sound you can't identify" or "a text message sent to the wrong number." I counted last Tuesday in a Discord server with about 400 members and 17 out of 20 "prompts" posted that day were basically outlines. The worst part is when I try to use one, I end up just filling in their blanks instead of writing my own thing. What's your cutoff for a prompt that's too detailed to be useful?
