My main character died in chapter 3 and I had no backup plan
I was at a Starbucks in Portland last Thursday, typing away on my novel. Suddenly my protagonist got hit by a bus. I stared at the screen for 10 minutes, panicking. So I just rewound and let a random side character take over the story. It actually worked out weirdly well. Has anyone else killed off a character by accident?

Accidentally killed off" kinda implies you had zero control over it. You literally wrote the scene where a bus hit your protagonist, right? Rewinding and switching to a side character sounds like a creative pivot, not a total accident.
