My $35 error in a writing prompt taught me a lesson about plotting

I bought a pack of 50 writing prompt cards online for $35. Thought it would save me time brainstorming. But every prompt was the same basic setup, like "a character finds a mysterious box." I got burned because none of them had any real conflict or stakes built in. Now I just steal ideas from newspaper headlines for free. Has anyone else found that paid prompt packs rarely deliver what they promise?

My friend Sarah spent $40 on a deck and got "a wizard finds a strange key" five times in a row.

Calling BS on that one @sarah229. I've opened maybe ten of those decks and never seen the same line twice in a row. Either your friend's lying or the game's rigged, and I know which one I'd bet on.
