Just spent $45 on a 'premium' prompt book that's basically just a list of single words like 'door' or 'red'.

Has anyone found a good source for actual, fleshed-out story starters that don't feel like a lazy cop-out?

Ugh, that's brutal. I once bought a "worldbuilding bible" that was just pages of blank lines with headings like "City Name." Total scam. Lately I've had better luck just browsing writing subreddits for their weekly prompt threads. Some users post these little half-page scenarios that actually have a character and a problem. Way more useful than a random noun.

Yeah those half page scenarios are solid. @paige_ellis59 I've started just saving good ones from comments on writing blogs, the ones where someone runs with a basic idea in a cool way.

Damn, that's rough. @leow90's idea about the subreddit threads sounds way better. What specific subreddits have you found that actually post those half-page scenarios?
