Just found out Stephen King wrote Carrie in a laundry room

I was reading an old interview in a writing magazine from the library and it said he wrote the whole thing on his wife's typewriter in their tiny laundry space. That's wild to me because it's such a dark book and he was in this cramped, boring spot. Makes you think about where you write stuff. Anyone else have a weird writing spot that just works?

That "cramped, boring spot" thing is so true. I wrote most of my community college term papers at this little fold out table in my grandma's basement next to the water heater. It was the only quiet place in the house and somehow the humming noise just made me focus.

That humming noise thing is real. Got a cheap fan in my home office that does the same job. Total silence is weird, but a steady background hum just blocks out all the other random junk. Lets your brain lock in on the one thing you're supposed to be doing. Your grandma's basement was basically a fancy focus chamber.
