I was waiting for the bus and heard a guy say 'the city is a library of lost things'
He was talking to his friend about finding an old key on the ground. It made me think about how many random objects could start a story. Like, who lost that key and what did it open? I'm going to try writing a short piece based on that line. Has anyone else gotten a good prompt from something you overheard?

That's such a cool way to find a story idea. Overheard conversations are full of weird little gems like that. It's like the whole world is secretly giving out writing prompts.
