Hot take: that Creative Writing Masterclass wasn't worth $200

I dropped $200 on a Creative Writing Masterclass from a famous author last year. The whole thing was basically just them reading their own work and saying 'do what feels right' for six hours. Has anyone else found a cheaper online course that actually gives you concrete tools for plotting?

Six hours of them just reading their own stuff? That is genuinely insane to me. I would have walked out after hour two, no question. You paid two hundred bucks to watch someone self-promote for a whole day, that's basically a vanity project they tricked you into funding. For concrete plotting tools, have you looked at the "Story Engineering" book by Larry Brooks? It breaks the whole three-act structure into really simple, usable pieces, way more helpful than some famous person rambling. Those big name masterclasses are almost always a trap, they bank on the author's name instead of actual teaching skills.

$200 for 'do what feels right' is rough.
