Tried a new lube schedule on my Liebherr and it threw off the whole rotation

I switched to greasing every 40 hours instead of 50 on my LTM 1050 last month. By week two the swing bearing started feeling gritty and I thought something was broken. Turns out over-lubing just pushed old grease out where it clogged the drain holes. Cleaned it all out and went back to 50 hour intervals and it's smooth again. Anybody else mess with the factory intervals and get weird results?

My 1999 LTM 1050 started whining after I tried 35 hour intervals on the swing drive. I thought the gearbox was toast but it was just the excess grease freezing up in cold weather. I had to pull the drain plugs and let it sit overnight to clear the mess. Now I stick to exactly what the manual says and I check the breathers regularly. The factory intervals are there for a reason and I learned that the hard way. Do you check your swing bearing drains after a lube change?

I mean, checking swing bearing drains after a lube change is definitely on my list of things I know I should do but probably forget half the time. It's right up there with remembering to check if I left the parking brake on before I start cursing at the crane for not moving. Maybe it's just me but I figure the gearbox will let me know if it's mad, usually with a sound that makes me spill my coffee.
