TIL the construction site I visit has a crane from 1972 still running strong

I was out at the job site in south Denver last week and noticed this old lattice boom crawler crane sitting next to a new Liebherr. Talked to the operator and he said it's been on that same site for 18 months straight without a major breakdown. He showed me the logbook and it's got over 4,000 hours since its last engine rebuild. Anyone else got an old workhorse on their site that refuses to quit?

We had an old Cat from the 80s that just kept chugging along long after the warranty expired.

Man, that's impressive. Especially for a machine from '72, those older cranes have way less computerized nonsense to go wrong. If the operator takes care of it, that thing'll probably outlast the new Liebherr.
