Shoutout to the old-timer at the Port of Seattle

He told me I was gripping the levers too tight and to try using just my fingertips, and after 15 years on cranes it cut my fatigue by half on that 8 hour shift moving containers.

Guess that proves you're never too old or too good to learn something new, even after 15 years. I once had a retired machinist tell me I was holding a wrench wrong, figured he was nuts, then my wrist stopped hurting after I tried his way. Sometimes the old school advice hits different when you're young and stubborn.

Man, I used to think old timers were just set in their ways and I'd tune them out. This post actually made me rethink that, good reminder to keep an open ear.
