Setting a 40-ton AC unit on a roof in a 30 mph wind last Thursday
The wind was pushing the load hard, and the signal from my spotter kept cutting out. I had to inch it up over the edge of the building, maybe an inch at a time, for almost two hours. My rigger had to use a tag line that was twice as long as normal just to keep it from spinning. We got it down on the pads without a scratch, but my hands were shaking after I set the hook. Anyone have a good method for keeping clear radio contact in high wind like that?

Try a wired headset under your helmet.

I saw a guy last week with wires hanging out of his helmet looking like a cyborg. Is the audio quality really that big of a deal when you're going 60 miles an hour with wind noise anyway. Seems like a lot of hassle just to listen to a podcast or some music. I just use my helmet's built in speakers and they're fine, not perfect but good enough.
