Read a sign in the break room that stopped me mid-bite

I was grabbing lunch at the site trailer in Nashville last Tuesday and there's this handwritten note taped to the microwave. It said 'If you run the hoist remote battery dead because you left it on overnight one more time, I'm locking the charger in my truck.' At first I laughed but then I realized I've done that exact thing three times this month. Has anyone else ever gotten a weirdly specific note like that from a coworker or foreman that actually made you change a bad habit?

I had one taped to the coffee maker at my old shop that said "If you dump the last cup and don't start a new pot, I'm putting instant coffee in your tool box." It sat there for three months before someone finally got caught doing it again (the note got updated with their name in red ink). That kind of public shaming via microwave note works way better than a lecture, you know? Fourteen guys in one break room and one specific warning about a hoist remote battery feels like the perfect amount of petty genius.

That's a good story, but you called it a microwave note when you actually said it was taped to the coffee maker. Details like that matter in workplace lore.

Gotta admit, @barbarac95, I used to think notes like that were overkill, but this kinda changed my mind. Three months of peace before someone messed up again sounds like a win in my book.
