Pro tip: Stop using your load line as a tagline on windy days
I learned this the hard way about 3 months ago on a job in downtown Denver. Got a 4,000 lb AC unit swinging around like crazy because I kept trying to control it with the main hoist. Old timer on the ground yelled up "you ain't steerin a boat!" and told me to just drop a proper tagline and use the boom. Felt like an idiot but man it changed everything. Anyone else had that moment where you realize you been overcomplicating something basic?

Dropped a 3 ton unit off a roof in Phoenix about two years ago because I got lazy with the tagline. Wind caught it right as I swung it over the edge, spun the load into the parapet. Cracked the casing, cost the company a grand to replace. Never skip the tagline again. It's the most basic thing but it saves your whole day.

Around Phoenix two years ago I had a close call with a 4 ton unit, thought taglines were just extra hassle... then I read your story @rileyl98. That changed my whole view. Now I won't even lift a window unit without one hooked in. Your experience saved me from making the same expensive mistake.
