Pro tip: stop letting the ground guy call your picks over the radio
I was working a tilt-up job over in Fresno when a rigger on the ground started telling me to boom down before I'd even checked my load chart, and I shut it down right there. Our chart said 4,800 lbs at that radius and the panel tag read 5,200, so he was asking me to flip a 30 ton rig on a Tuesday. The guy got mad and said every other operator on that site just trusted him, and I told him every other operator on that site had a different chart in a different truck. My controls, my chart, my call. How do you all handle a ground guy who thinks the radio makes him the operator?
