Pro tip: always check the boom angle sensor before a blind pick
Was on a job in Newark last month, setting steel beams on a 12 story frame. The site super kept telling me to swing blind over the parapet, so I trusted the angle readout on my LTM 1160. Turned out the sensor was off by 4 degrees from a bad cable rub, and the load clipped a brace on the way down. Scraped 2 grand off the beam and had to redo the lift with a tagline man. Now I spend 5 minutes with a handheld inclinometer on every rig before the first pick, even if the screen looks fine. Anyone else had a sensor lie to them on a tight spot?
