Old operator in Baton Rouge told me to never grease under load - got burned ignoring it
Back when I was running a Liebherr LTM 1050 in Baton Rouge, this 50-year veteran named Hank kept telling me to always spin the hook block to an empty spot before greasing. I thought he was just being fussy until one day I skipped it on a tight deadline. The grease gun slipped and shot a stream right onto a hot brake drum, which smoked up the whole cab for 10 minutes. Had to shut down for an hour to clean it off and check everything. Now I grease on the ground during lunch breaks instead of on the fly. Anyone else deal with a grease mishap that could've turned into something worse?
