Got called out for my hand signal speed on a site in Phoenix

My spotter told me straight up, 'You're moving too fast, I can't read you,' after I nearly swung a load over a parked truck. I slowed my signals down by half and now I count to two between each one. How do you guys make sure your signals are clear without slowing the whole lift down?

Ever notice how rushing basics breaks everything?

My cousin works heavy equipment in Tucson and said the exact same thing happened to him last summer. He started practicing signals with his kids in the driveway using a broomstick, just to get the rhythm right. I mean, it sounds like you fixed it by counting, which is smart. That two second pause probably feels long but it beats the alternative.

That broomstick drill is actually genius. Makes the whole thing feel less like a safety test and more like a backyard game. Smart way to build the muscle memory without the pressure.
