Distracted crane ops are playing with fire, and I saw it firsthand

On a roofing job last week, the crane guy was texting while lifting materials. The load almost hit a scaffold because he wasn't watching. This needs to stop before someone gets hurt. We all have to speak up when we see this stuff.

Saw something like this last month and it was nuts. The operator was messing with his radio while swinging a pallet of block, froze up when he saw a guy walking, and almost dropped the whole thing. Honestly it just takes one second of looking away to wreck everything. Makes me so pissed off that guys would risk lives like that. We really do have to yell at them every single time.

Yeah my buddy watched a crane op take a phone call while lowering I-beams last year. Dude was literally arguing with his wife about dinner plans and almost swung the load right into a gang box full of guys. They had to dive out of the way. Stuff like that scares the hell out of everyone on site because it's so totally avoidable.
