A 30 year guy at the yard in Tacoma told me to walk my swing radius every morning, and it finally clicked at 6am
He said most tip overs he has seen happen because the ground changed overnight and nobody looked, so now I do a slow lap before I even touch the controls and I already found a soft spot from rain last Tuesday, does anyone else make this part of their pre shift?
the ground changed overnight" is close but not the whole story. It's not just rain, it's the ground getting walked on all day by other machines and trucks too, weight packs it down or digs it out. I do the same lap and honestly the soft spots after a busy day are worse than anything the weather does.
