The $5 mirror had a hidden camera, here's how I caught it before they got my WiFi
Picked up a cheap dresser mirror from a guy in Tacoma last month, and after a glitchy reflection I pulled the backing off and found a tiny lens wired to a battery pack. Check every mirror and clock you buy used with your phone's flashlight and your camera app, has anyone else had electronics hidden in furniture?
I saw a news segment last month about a rental RV that had a tracker hidden in the ceiling vent, so this stuff is way more common than people think. My buddy found a tiny mic inside a secondhand smart speaker he bought from a flea market, the thing wasn't even plugged in but it had a separate battery. I always do the flashlight trick now on anything with a dark spot or weird reflection, plus I run a quick airpod detection app before I bring stuff inside. The camera app thing is smart too cause it showed me a purple glow on a lamp I almost brought home. Scary part is they can grab your wifi password just from the video feed, so you did right to catch it early.
