Sold a pickup to the first cash offer, then watched it get towed 2 blocks later

Tbh I had a 2004 F-150 listed for $3,800 and got like 15 replies in the first hour. One dude in a hoodie shows up at 7am, doesn't even test drive it, just counts out cash and says "give me the keys." My gut said red flag, but the money was right there and I wanted it gone. He drove off, I felt great for maybe 10 minutes. Then I'm grabbing coffee down the street and see the same truck on a flatbed with a boot on it. Turns out the guy had a suspended license and unpaid tickets stacking up for months. He only bought it to strip the cat and wheels before the city impounded it. Has anyone else had a sale go sideways that fast after the handshake?
