Guy in the Walmart parking lot in Tulsa told me to always meet at a police station, and now I get why
I was selling a $400 Nintendo Switch bundle on Facebook Marketplace and this older dude buying a bike rack from someone else just walked over and gave me that tip out of nowhere. Fast forward to last Tuesday, a "buyer" for my old iPhone 11 kept pushing to come to my apartment instead of the QuikTrip on 71st, and when I said no he got weird and ghosted. So my question is, do you all actually use the police station exchange zones or is that overkill? And has anyone had a meetup go sideways even in a public spot?
I've done maybe 30 meetups over the years and only used the police station lot twice, both times for phones over $300. It feels a little silly sitting there with your stuff like you're waiting to get booked, but the guy who tried to change the location on you is exactly why it works, since scammers never want cameras or cops around. Public spots like QuikTrip are fine for cheap stuff, but for anything over a few hundred bucks the exchange zone is worth the awkwardness.
