Drove 90 minutes to buy a 'barely used' smoker and it was full of mold
Saw a listing in Toledo for a pellet smoker at $150, said it was used twice. Got there and the thing was caked in black mold inside and the auger was jammed with wet pellets. The seller just shrugged and said 'it fires up fine though.' I offered him $20 to take it off his hands so I didn't waste the trip, and he actually took it. Has anyone else ever talked a seller down that hard or am I just cheap?
My buddy did something close to that with a riding mower off Facebook. The guy wanted $400, my friend showed up and the deck was rotted through and it hadn't run in two years. He pointed all that out, said he'd give him $40 cash right then or walk, and the guy took it without even arguing. I figure once you drive all that way, the seller knows you're stuck, so you might as well use it. Ten minutes of haggling beats a wasted trip home.
