The math on custom cookie pricing surprised me last week
I was pricing out a birthday order for 48 cookies and broke down my actual costs. Ingredients came to $34. Packaging was another $12. My time at 4 hours was the kicker. Found out most home bakers in my area only charge $2.50 per cookie, which barely covers that. How do you all figure your hourly rate without scaring off neighbors?
Charge a fair hourly rate and watch the neighbors scatter like you just raised their rent. That $2.50 per cookie price is basically charity with extra steps. Do the math, pay yourself, and let the folks who get it place the order.
