That neighbor who told me to just use a hot glue gun for fabric patches was dead wrong
Honestly, I was trying to fix a ripped seat cushion on my outdoor wicker set last month and my neighbor came over and said hot glue would hold the patch forever. Tbh, I knew better but I was lazy and wanted a quick fix after a long day of work. I spent about 20 minutes gluing a heavy canvas patch over the tear and it looked okay for maybe two days. Then the temp hit 90 degrees here in Phoenix and the patch completely peeled off, leaving a sticky mess that took me an hour to scrape away with a putty knife. Ngl, I should've just used heavy duty outdoor thread and a curved needle like I do for my canvas tool roll ups. Has anyone else been burned by trusting a neighbor's cheap shortcut over actual sewing gear?

lmfao "forever" i love when people say that about hot glue like they've never seen what 90 degree sun does to it. i actually read somewhere that hot glue starts getting soft at like 120F, which your outdoor furniture in phoenix is definitely hitting. you were smart to go with the heavy duty thread and curved needle, that's literally what they use for marine canvas and those boats sit out in way worse conditions than your wicker set.
