Vent: Dropped $300 on a 'declassified' government report that was just a bunch of recycled internet posts

So I got really into the whole UFO disclosure thing last year, specifically the Wilson-Davis memo. Convinced myself there was a real paper trail, I found this site selling a 'complete declassified packet' for three hundred bucks. The guy swore it was from a source inside the defense contractor world. What showed up was a PDF of stuff you could find on any forum from 2005, printed out on fancy paper with a seal slapped on it. No new names, no documents I hadn't seen, just the same old stories typed up to look official. It felt like paying for a movie ticket and getting a slideshow of the poster instead. Honestly, it made me question the whole economy around these secrets. Has anyone else been burned buying 'insider' info that turned out to be garbage?

Man, that's a brutal way to learn that lesson. It's crazy how many people are out there just repackaging old rumors to make a quick buck. Really makes you wonder who you can even trust with that stuff anymore.

Yeah, that "economy of secrets" line hits hard. The whole scene is built on selling the feeling of being an insider. Once you pay, you realize the product is just the same old hope in a new box.

But sometimes paying for the right info saves you a ton of time and money. It's not all just repackaged junk.
