That GPS tracker on my delivery van took 6 months to figure out

I installed one of those cheap GPS trackers on my van last year so I could keep an eye on my brother who borrowed it for deliveries. For 6 months the thing kept showing my van parked at a random Waffle House at 3 AM when I knew it was in my driveway. Turns out the tracker was picking up a signal from a neighbor's similar device because I set the update interval wrong. I finally fixed it after reading a deep-dive thread on a trucker forum about frequency interference. Has anyone else had a cheap tracker mess with your head like that?

it kept showing my van parked at a random Waffle House at 3 AM" - man that's wild, but did you ever drive past that Waffle House at night to see if your neighbor's van was actually there? Because I bet that guy was living a whole double life while your tracker was confused. Also what exactly was the update interval set to that caused the cross-signal? I'm curious if that's a common screwup or just a super cheap device thing.

oh I read somewhere that GPS trackers sometimes mix up signals if they're set to ping every 30 seconds or faster, cheap ones especially get confused in parking lots with lots of metal. but yeah @terry_barnes I bet your neighbor was sneaking hash browns and a double life while you were scratching your head lol
