Question about the whole chemtrail thing after talking to a pilot

So I was making a delivery out near the regional airport last week, and this pilot guy who used to fly cargo planes was waiting for his ride. We got to talking and I brought up the whole chemtrail conspiracy, just as a joke kinda. But he got real serious and said look, those trails are just water vapor, but he admitted the government does spray stuff for cloud seeding sometimes and that's real. He said the real weird thing is how people see a straight line in the sky and jump to spraying poison, when half the time it's just a normal contrail from a plane at 35,000 feet. That conversation hit different because he wasn't being dismissive, he actually explained the science behind why some trails linger and some don't. Made me wonder if there's much actual evidence for the chemtrail theory or if it's just people not knowing how planes work. Has anyone here actually found a reliable source on what those long lasting trails are made of?

Its wild how people think something like water vapor is just this simple thing when its literally the whole reason we have clouds and rain and all that. @adam_robinson people forget the basic stuff is actually the most complex once you dig into it. Kinda like how everyone thinks air is just nothing until you learn its a whole mix of gases doing crazy things. The bigger pattern I notice is how we take everyday stuff for granted until something breaks or someone points out we are breathing dinosaur farts or whatever lol.
