I stopped arguing about JFK files after finding the CIA's own internal history
Used to spend hours debating the grassy knoll and magic bullet theory. Then I read the CIA's 2013 declassified internal history of the assassination and realized most conspiracy theories miss that the real screw-ups were bureaucratic, not some grand plot. Anyone else find official documents more unsettling than the wild theories?

Yeah, the "real screw-ups were bureaucratic" part really hit me too. I used to be convinced there was some shadowy cover-up involving the CIA and the mob. But after reading through that 2013 history, seeing how they fumbled the intelligence on Oswald before the shooting, how they flat out lied to the Warren Commission about their own files, it's way more unsettling than any grand plot. It's like watching a slow motion train wreck of people trying to protect their own jobs and reputations, not some coordinated conspiracy. That kind of messy, human failure is harder to wrap my head around than a clean, bad guy story.

Nah @clairer79, I still lean toward there being more to it than just incompetence.
