Hot take: The moon landing conspiracy theory changed how I vet sources
I used to just skim headlines and trust whatever sounded right, but last year a buddy gave me real detailed feedback on a post I made about faked space footage. He pointed out that my main source was a blog with no actual photo evidence, just opinion pieces. That made me start checking if a source even has original documents or interviews, not just recycled claims. Now I spend 15 minutes looking up who actually took a photo or did a study before I share it. It's annoying but it cut down on me looking dumb in debates. Has anyone else had a friend call them out like that and change your approach to researching?

Got called out by my cousin on a climate change post I shared, turned out the graph was from a site that just slaps data together without any peer review. Now I always check if a source links back to actual studies or government records before I pass it along. Saves me from being that person who gets fact-checked in the comments, which is a relief honestly.

Did I share a fake moon landing photo once? Embarrassing, lol.
