Found a $20 bill at the Pearl Street Mall and it started a whole chain of weird luck

I was pressure washing the fountain area in Boulder last Thursday when I spotted it under a bench. Three hours later, I watched a guy pitch a flat earth theory to a crowd and actually had people nodding along... made me wonder if money brings good luck or just makes you notice strange things more. Anyone else had something small snowball into something bigger like that?

That $20 might have just shifted your focus, like when I find a dropped tool and suddenly start noticing every loose screw on the sidewalk. Money can trigger a kind of selective attention, where your brain starts hunting for patterns you would have missed otherwise. The flat earth crowd was probably always there, you just had a little luck to make you look up from the ground.

So @bettywilson, do you think that selective attention thing works both ways? Like, does missing out on something obvious ever make you blind to the whole picture, or is it just about luck and timing?
