Dropped $180 on a faraday cage for my keys and my car still got broken into

Turns out the cheap RFID box I bought from Amazon did nothing because the thieves just smashed my window anyway. Has anyone else had a security gadget completely backfire like this?

Turns out the cheap RFID box I bought from Amazon did nothing" - yeah that part got me. I used to think any security gadget was better than nothing, but this totally changed my mind. I bought one of those steering wheel locks a while back, the really heavy ones thinking no way anyone could get through it. Then I saw a video of a guy cutting through one with bolt cutters in like 10 seconds. Now I just park in well lit areas and keep nothing visible in my car. These gadgets give you a false sense of security more than anything else.

Ha fair point, but I actually kinda disagree. Those steering wheel locks still make your car way less appealing than the unlocked one next to it, even if they're not invincible.
