Can we talk about researching a theory versus just watching a documentary about it?

I spent last weekend reading the original 1990s news reports and declassified memos about a certain event, after only seeing a popular Netflix doc. The difference in what I understood was huge, because the doc left out a key witness statement from page 14 of the 1997 congressional transcript. Which method do you all find gives you a clearer picture?

Yeah, but you can't really call watching a documentary "research." It's just a starting point.

Honestly @lee_martinez97, my "research" is mostly just watching stuff and then pretending I know things.

Right? The doc left out the key part.
