A guy at a meetup in Reno told me my debunk posts read like I was mad at people, and he was right
I run a small group in Sparks and we do a monthly deep dive on local rumors, and after one session about the water tower thing, a guy named Daryl pulled me aside and said my notes sounded like a prosecutor, not a person asking questions. I sat with that for 3 days and then rewrote my whole approach so each claim gets its own page with what would change my mind listed at the bottom. It felt small but 6 people showed up to the next one and stayed 2 hours instead of 40 minutes, which never happened when I was just yelling cites. Anyone else get told their tone was killing the conversation, and did changing it actually help or did people just want the fight?
