Watching a crew in Tucson pour a slab in the middle of summer taught me something about timing
I was down in Tucson last week visiting my cousin and I saw this crew pouring a big driveway at like 6 in the morning. They were done by 10 and had tarps ready to keep the sun off it while it set. How do you figure out the exact right window to pour when the temp jumps 30 degrees before noon?

Oh man, guess they figured out concrete is basically Goldilocks in hard hat form.

Buddy of mine tried pouring a walkway at his place near Phoenix. Thought he'd be smart and start at 4 AM. By 7 the sun was up and the mix was going off faster than he could finish. Ended up with a rough finish and a bunch of cracks that showed up the next week. He said next time he's just hiring it out.
