Tried using a magnesium float on a 90-degree day in Phoenix and it set up way too fast

The surface got all crusty and tore up when I went to broom it, cost me half a day to grind it back down. Anyone have a go-to retarder for extreme heat like that?

Wait, you were working concrete in Phoenix at 90 degrees? That's a dry heat but still, man. I've had good luck with Sika's liquid retarder when it's stupid hot.

Only 90? It was 112 on site last Tuesday, how did you manage that?

Oh man, that 112 was the air temp. We're talking about the concrete mix temp itself, that's the 90. Big difference when you're trying to place it.
