Saw a DIY shed base in Portland that finally sold me on rebar chairs
Helped my brother pour a 12x16 slab in Portland and he had his grid sitting right on the dirt, no chairs anywhere. I used to think chairs were an upsell, but watching him fight to pull mesh up mid-pour changed my mind fast, so what do you all use to keep mesh at mid slab?
The part about him fighting to pull the mesh up mid pour is too real. It's one of those things where you don't get it until you watch a grown man doing the stomp dance in wet concrete trying to hook wire with a rake. Chairs cost almost nothing and save you from that whole circus, plus the mesh actually ends up in the middle where it does its job instead of sitting on the dirt doing nothing. Saving twenty bucks to turn your pour into a wrestling match is a bad trade every time.
