Pouring a driveway in Little Rock when the homeowner handed me a garden hose mid float
Was finishing a 24 by 30 driveway in Little Rock last month and about 40 minutes into the float the homeowner walked up with a garden hose and sprayed the whole slab down. I told him we don't add water on top once it's setting, and he said his last guy always did it to make it slick. We lost the top half of that pour, it cured soft and chalky in spots and we ended up grinding three sections the next week. Now I always run through the water rules with the homeowner before the truck even backs in, even if it feels like overkill. Cost me about $900 in rework and a Saturday, which stung more than the money honestly. Anyone got a way of saying this that actually lands with folks who think they're helping?
