Just realized my bull float technique was creating a weak surface layer

A foreman in Charlotte told me I was lifting too much cream, leaving the slab prone to dusting. I slowed my passes down by half and the difference after a week was obvious. Anyone else get called out for rushing the float?

Had a guy show me the same thing last year. Keep the float flat and let the weight do the work, no pushing down. What other tricks did your foreman share?

That's a solid fix, slowing down makes all the difference. Did the foreman explain why the faster passes pull up more cream, or was it just a "do this" kind of correction? Sometimes knowing the why helps it stick.

Oh he explained it, with the kind of deep patience you save for a toddler. Basically, going too fast skims the surface and just grabs the creamy top layer, leaving the good stuff underneath. So my hurry-up attitude was literally only getting me the half-baked results. It was a whole lecture that really drove home how rushing just makes more work later.
