Just had to pick between a magnesium float and a wood float for a tricky patio job in Phoenix

Went with the magnesium for the first pass on the hot slab and it gave me the smooth finish I needed without pulling up too much cream, so what's your go-to for high heat pours?

Man, in Phoenix heat? I'd be worried the wood float would just burst into flames. Good call on the magnesium.

Yeah, that's a real concern. I read an article last year about how extreme dry heat can actually make wood more brittle and prone to catching fire faster than people expect. @victor_carr25, you're right to point out the Phoenix heat, it's a whole different level. Magnesium floats are a solid choice there because they can take the heat without warping or becoming a hazard. It just makes more sense for that kind of harsh weather.
